Robert Furber (1674–1756) was a British horticulturist and author, best known for writing the first seed catalogue produced in England. Furber's most notable work was ‘Twelve Months of Flowers’. This print is a reproduction of January, depicting the flowers that bloom during that month. The series was first published in 1730, in London.
The antique style print features numbered flora compete with legend at the bottom. The bouquet of florals and plants are in a Romanesque vase. Centered surrounded by cherubs is the word “June”.
