Made with vintage rhinestone studded stars and chain from a discarded necklace. The shepherds hook is new and hypoallergenic (nickel free).

This pair of star earrings honours Rebelle Hedy Lamarr and is inspired by her iconic star crown look.

Blessed with brains and beauty, Austrian born actress, inventor and rebel Hedy Lamarr was known as the most beautiful woman in the world. Rumour has it Snow White and Cat Woman were based on her look. She starred and produced many films over the 30's and 40's, but never cared much for the Hollywood hype - one of her famous quotes being "Any girl can be glamorous. All you have to do is stand still and look stupid".

She was far more interested in connecting with other brilliant minds: "At the beginning of World War II, Lamarr and composer George Antheil developed a radio guidance system using frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology for Allied torpedoes, intended to defeat the threat of jamming by the Axis powers.[11] She also helped improve aircraft aerodynamics for Howard Hughes, while they dated during the war.[12] Although the US Navy did not adopt Lamarr and Antheil's invention until 1957,[4][13] various spread-spectrum techniques are incorporated into Bluetooth technology and are similar to methods used in legacy versions of Wi-Fi.[14][15][16] Recognition of the value of their work resulted in the pair being posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014."

Renaissance pieces are (re)designed and hand made in Canada, and are made from discarded and pre-loved jewelry. Due to the vintage and secondhand nature of the parts used, most pieces are made from alloyed metals and may show signs of wear. All parts and pieces used in the creation of jewelry are carefully selected by the maker despite minor imperfections. Asymmetrical designs and differentiation in pieces and colours are intentional. Each design is unique and one of a kind.
