ABOUT

Oliva + Olga revives and reimagines forgotten jewelry by curating and recreating accessories that honour the past while styling for the present.

Founded on the values of reuse and personal expression, Oliva + Olga is a love letter to secondhand style. Every piece in our collections are sourced, repurposed, or reassembled with intention. Versatility and wearability are at the heart of every creation, allowing you to style, restyle, and reinvent as you go.

It started with a fascination for brooches and charm bracelets, treasures passed down from the founder's French-Canadian and Ukrainian grandmothers, Oliva and Olga. From them came not just jewelry, but the values that define this practice: resourcefulness, imagination, and care for the things we keep.

"Oliva is my maternal grandmother. A textbook housewife yet a woman ahead of her time, she was a walking contradiction. My entrepreneurial spirit, craftiness, and contradictory nature definitely comes from her: why can't luxury and thrifty be synonyms?

Thanks to my paternal side and grandmother Olga, I understood the importance of wasting less and reusing, my European roots, and above all mental health. Trends and the fashion industry perpetuate the need for external validation with new fashions. This not only promotes consumerism, but it also affects self esteem and one's self love and acceptance."

We believe jewelry should have stories, not just price tags, and fashion should be circular, not disposable. Our pieces are for those who want to opt out of wasteful production cycles without giving up creativity, individuality, or the joy of adornment, for those who find meaning in objects, who love a good contradiction, and who see beauty in imperfection. Whether it’s a bold vintage statement or a subtle reworked classic, each piece invites you to forget to abandon trends and be your own muse.

Oliva + Olga was founded by Joëlle Preston, a collector and self-taught maker with a soft spot for overlooked treasures. Raised by a family of thrifters, crafters, and strong-willed women, Joëlle grew up understanding that old things have value and that style doesn’t need to come at the expense of the planet.

Her grandmothers, Oliva and Olga, embodied seemingly opposite values: one was all glamour and reinvention, the other frugal and grounded. Joëlle’s vision for Oliva + Olga lives in the space between those two worlds where vintage meets everyday wear, and where something broken can always be made beautiful again.

Joëlle is a French-Canadian and Ukrainian creative currently based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Learn more about Joëlle and her artistic work here ›
