Cloisonné is an enamelling technique was popularized during the Ming dynasty. It was adopted in China and Japan, although it likely originated in Turkey. Centuries later, high class Europeans enjoyed cloisonné objects and jewelry coming from Asia among many with other chinoiseries, a French term of "Chinese things".
