Gold filled goldstone post back earrings and necklace set in original box. Pieces are hallmarked “Rainbow GF”
Goldstone is neither gold nor a stone, but a glittering glass achieved by mixing silica sand and crystals of metallic copper. The practice likely originated in 17th century Venice and is an invention attributed to the Miotti family, who held the exclusive rights to its production. They’re process was highly guarded until they ceased operations in the late 19th century and sold the formula.
This “stone” is often attributed properties related to ambition and new beginnings. While it is artificial, it contains Copper, which is believed to have properties which help with relationships, attracting abundance, and creativity.
